What Is Trending This Fall

INK + ALLOY Fall Trends

Over the past few months, we’ve been seeing the pendulum swing back from dainty and minimal to bold and colorful statements… Beiges and tans have been replaced with newer, richer options and our accessories have once again become extensions of our personalities.

As a brand that relishes in all things fun with a little whimsy, we couldn’t be more excited for the change in seasons and styles.

So we did the homework. Below are the four trends we keep coming back to this fall — what they actually look like off the runway, how to wear them without feeling like you’re in costume, and the pieces from our own collection we’re reaching for first.

Statement Brooches

Brooches are back in a big way this year, in both size and popularity. The runways of Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, and Giorgio Armani were glimmering with feather, metallic and jewel brooches that captivated our hearts and imaginations for what we’re wearing this fall.

The best part? There are more places for one to live than just your lapel. This time around, we’re seeing them styled as closures for jackets, button ups, and scarves. Some are wearing multiple brooches together, while others have given old bags new life by pinning them to the side.

Bold ’80s-Inspired Baubles

The ’80s called… and they told us bold is back when it comes to what’s worn on your neck, wrist and ears. The more-is-more mentality that decorated the decade has re-emerged for the season, as seen on the runways of Saint Laurent, Mugler, and Celine.

Forget dainty chains and studs, and instead opt for the chunky, warm pieces that prompt people on the street to ask “Where did you get that?!”

Statement Cuffs

It’s all in the wrist — literally — this time around. This season, people are reaching for wide, weighty, and impossible-to-ignore cuffs. We’re talking pieces with real presence: hammered metal, bold texture, the kind of thing you hear before you see.

What makes the cuff so wearable is how little else it needs. One on a bare wrist against a simple sweater is a complete outfit. But if you’re feeling bolder, try it over the sleeve. A cuff worn on top of a turtleneck or a pushed-up blazer is the styling trick we’ve seen everywhere this season, and it takes about four seconds. Stack two or three on one arm and leave the other bare for the kind of asymmetry that looks deliberate rather than accidental.

More Bold Beads

Over the summer, big beaded necklaces dominated grids and style recommendations, contrasting the past few years’ preference for dainty chains and simple pendants. And the runways of Chanel, Givenchy and Jonathan Anderson told us there’s no sign of stopping.

What’s different this time around is the palette. While summer beads were drenched with candy-coated hues and bright pops of color, fall leans much more into rich, deep hues like burgundy, amber, and deep blues.

Summing It Up

If there is a thread running through all four of these, it’s making a statement. Take up space and wear the thing that makes people ask about it. Most of all, stop treating your accessories like an afterthought and start treating them like the point.

We’ve never been particularly interested in blending in. So, as far as we’re concerned, this season can stay a while.
